Preterism 101 & 201

Timing is everything, as the saying goes.  And that may very well be the case if we are to correctly understand "New Testament eschatology" (which really is Old Testament eschatology").  Many are shocked at what they “see” when  they put on their audience-relevance-interpretive-lens, and discover what the New Testament writers were telling their audience…in the first century.

A theme emerges.  Statements that clearly indicate imminence seem to jump off the page....left and right.  Specific events were impending...on the cusp of arrival....within their very own generation!  The anticipated events just around the bend to the first century  audience included Jesus' Coming, the Resurrection, and the Judgment.

It seems strange that not many seem to notice this “thread of imminence” woven throughout the New Testament.  In truth, if one is astute, they will actually notice an increased, or more greater urgency, or intensity in time statements as they read through the later letters.  The "last days" turned into the "last hour" as the "end of all things" drew near!

Below is a list of 101 time statements compiled by David Green (“ Preterism 101"), followed by an additional 100 compiled by Ryan McKittrick (“ Preterism 201”)

Preterism 201
An Additional 100 Scriptures Which Predict AD 70 Fulfillment
By Ryan McKittrick

1)    Matt. 5:18:  For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass
from the law till all is fulfilled.
2)    Matt. 8:12:  But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness….

       judgment than for that city!
4)    Matt. 10:22:  And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake.  But he who endures to the end will be saved.
5)    Matt. 11:22,24:  But I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you.
But I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you.
       (See Matt. 12:36, Mark 6:11)
6)    Matt. 12:41-45:….will rise up with this wicked generation and condemn it.
7)    Matt. 13: 30:  Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First
gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”
8)    Matt. 13: 39-41, 49:  The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are
the angels.  Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age.  The Son
of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who
practice lawlessness.  So will it be at the end of the age.
9)    Matt. 19:27-30:  Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of man sits on the throne of his glory,
you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. (cf. Mark 10:28-31)
10)  Matt. 21:21:…you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, “Be removed
and be cast into the sea”, it will be done.
11)  Matt. 22:7:  But when the king heard about it, he was furious.  And he sent out his armies, destroyed those
murderers, and burned up their city.
12)  Matt. 24:1-3:  Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the
buildings of the temple.  And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one
stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”  Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the
disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your
coming, and of the end of the age?” (cf. Mark 13:2-4; Luke 21:6-7)
13)  Matt. 24:30:  And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the land
lament, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

15)  Matt. 27:25:  And all the people answered and said, “His blood be on us and on our children.”
16)  Mark 13: 24-31:  But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its
light; the stars of heaven will fall, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.  Then they will see the Son of Man
coming in the clouds with great power and glory.  And then He will send His angels, and gather together His elect
from the four winds, from the farthest part of earth to the farthest part of heaven.  Now learn this parable from the
fig tree: When its branch has already become tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.  So you
also, when you see these things happening, know that it is near—at the doors!   Assuredly, I say to you, this
generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.  Heaven and earth will pass away, but My
words will by no means pass away.  (cf. Matt. 24:29-35; Luke 21:27-36)

       His father David.

of Man: They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the
ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.  Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed….the
one will be taken and the other left.  And they answered and said to Him, “Where, Lord?”  So He said to them,
“Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.” (cf. Matt. 24:27,36-42)
23)  Luke 18:8:  tell you that He will avenge them (His own elect) speedily.  Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes,
will He really find faith on the earth?”
24)  Luke 19:43-44:  For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround
you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not
leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.

there you may be also.   You have heard Me say to you, I am going away and coming back to you….
